Top 5 things to do in the Bay Area this Labor Day weekend

Kings Mountain Art Fair
This is easily the best setting for an art fair in the Bay Area, with artists displaying their wares amid the towering redwoods just off Skyline Blvd in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The paintings and sculptures are a step up from the usual sailboats and sunsets you usually find at these events. And it’s for a good cause: food and drink purchases help support the local volunteer fire rescue team. Saturday – Monday, 9/5-7, 10am-5pm, 13889 Skyline Blvd, Woodside, CA

Bacon Festival of America
Wax up that mustache, hop on that banana-seat fixie and pedal on over to Plaza de Cesar Chavez in San Jose for a celebration of all things bacon. The list of food trucks and dessert trucks is long and impressive, with craft beer, live music and pro wrestling also on tap. Saturday, 9/5, 12-7pm.

Shakespeare in the Park
The Presidio in summer (before the fog rolls in) is pretty special. Add in free Shakespeare and you have an ideal Labor Day weekend. Bring a blanket and picnic to the main parade ground as SF Shakes performs the classic tragi-romance Romeo and Juliet. Saturday – Monday, 9/5-7, 2pm.

Point Reyes Sand Sculpture Contest
In case you needed an excuse to venture out to Point Reyes this holiday weekend. Build a sandy masterpiece or simply appreciate the fruits of other’s sand sculpting abilities, while enjoying the sun and surf at Drake’s Beach. Saturday, 9/5, 9am-3:30pm.

Brazilian Day Street Party
Brazilians know how to party, and dance, and sing. Which is why you won’t want to miss the Brazilian Independence Day celebration, with a full slate of live music, samba dancing, capoeira and food. Sunday, 9/6, 9am-7pm, Casa de Cultura, Berkeley.
